Introduction
How often do you feel annoyed or perplexed when you chance upon an inexplicably confusing website? When a new person visits your website the first impression will be formed very quickly. A well-designed website will drastically increase traffic numbers and chances of the same visitors returning again, whereas a poorly-designed website will leave visitors with bad experience that causes them to likely never return. Here, we will discover what constitute good or bad website design, based on analysing and reviewing two real life examples:
Example 1: Jacob's Cafe
This website shows Jacob's Cafe right in the top centre when loaded and gives a feel of a local F&B cafe outlet in Changi Village of Singapore. It does not have a blog link or any e-commerce functions in the website. It gives information of what is offered in the cafe with their menu list page via a drop down button menu. There is also a simple reservation page noted for patrons to book their table via the website online booking via a third party plug in script. This cafe does serves a wide range of food and drinks with some very country styled proprietary items like Oxtail Stew, Jacob's Bacon Pizza and Jacob's Chicken Pie with its top to bottom listings shown.
Example 2: The Book Cafe
The first feeling I got from this The Book Cafe website was a display message that "Run Adobe Flash" was needed for a download the moment the website loaded. Then in the centre of the website shows a notice message that was dated over 2014/014, about 4 years ago.
Example 2: Japan Rail Cafe
This website definitely creates a wow feeling the moment the website is loaded. It seems to have very nice clear information and maximizes every corner andinch of the website with a sky blue colour theme. There seems to have an irrelavant word called" TRAVEL" in the website menu bar only to realise later that it is promoting tourism and travel of Japan via the website functions and as a cafe.
Purpose of both websites
